Why Switch to Cloth Diapers?

Why I Fell in Love with Cloth Diapers (And Why You Will Too!)
I started my journey into the world of cloth diapers while I was pregnant. I started buying cloth diapers for my baby while I was 6 months pregnant. Yep! So excited right?
My experience with cloth diaper flats, or lampin, started much earlier. Years ago, I used them on my baby brother and was amazed with how soft they were on his skin. As a first time mom-to-be, I wanted the best for my baby (like every mom out there), so I decided to give cloth diapers a try.
In the first few weeks, I used a mix of disposable and cloth diapers, unsure if I could handle cloth diapering full-time. But as I got into the groove, I found myself falling in love with cloth diapers! So much so that I eventually switched exclusively. Let me tell you why!
Why Cloth Diapers Are a Game-Changer for Parents
1. Save Money (and Who Doesn’t Love That?)
When I did the math on how much we could save by switching to cloth diapers, I was astounded. The cost of disposable diapers adds up quickly. When using cloth diapers, there is an upfront cost involved, but you can use the same ones for many years! I'm referring to setting aside as much as ₱65,000 for your child's diaper years. You can also give them to your next child!
2. Prevent Rashes with Chemical-Free Materials
As a new mom, I was really concerned about protecting my baby's sensitive skin from irritation. Chemicals and fragrances found in disposable diapers can lead to rashes and discomfort. On the other hand, diapers made with cloth are made of breathable, chemical-free materials, and I've seen a significant improvement in my baby's skin! No more red, irritated bottoms!
3. Say Goodbye to Leaks
Leakage was my biggest worry. But with Aimerie’s cloth diapers, I learned that you can prevent leaks, even during long naps or overnight, thanks to the flexible sizing and secure closures. The waterproof outer fabric keeps everything contained, and I no longer deal with blowouts!
Why Cloth Diapering Works for Busy Parents
Let me be real: I know some people think cloth diapering is hard work, especially if you’re a busy parent. Honestly though, it's not as hard as it seems. Cloth diapers are easy to integrate into our hectic schedules, requiring a simple wash routine (every 2–3 days). Plus, no late-night runs to the store when you’re out of diapers! After a year of cloth diapering, I even discovered a way to stretch out the main wash to once a week, though I still recommend washing every 2–3 days for best results. If you're curious about how I make it work, I’m thinking of writing a blog post to share the details soon!
Cloth Diapering Advocacy: No Judgment, Just Support
I am a cloth diaper advocate now, that I use them full time. I have a mission to share with others how amazing cloth diapering is, but let me repeat this; That I am an "advocate" for cloth diapers does not mean I pass judgement on those that don't use them!No two parents are going to experience it the same way, and I get that there are times when disposable diapers definitely have their place. My aim was to provide some visibility of how cloth diapers have been good for me, and to make that an option readily available for other parents who might not know this. Meanwhile, whether you use cloth or disposables, we are all mamas just doing our best for our babies.
